FMP post 1

As those who have read my blog before will know, I am doing my FMP and have to document my progress. The assignment title is individual to us and we get to chose our own titles. After much brainstorming I narrowed mine down to Hidden Messages - What We See Everyday. To qualify this further I am looking at Fonts and how things mean more than just face value. The inspiring font for this assignment is

My first step was to research. This font is very reminiscent of the 1920's so this was where I started. In This time, America was more influential than Britain so I focused more closely with the American 1920's.
My research has been fun I have used the internet as does everyone but I also got books from the library on art deco movement, and Egypt. Egyptology was massive in the 20's because of the discovery of King Tut's tomb so to research further I went to the great Egypt display at British museum. Now the fun parts. To further research I used films. There are great films set in the 20's Bugsy Malone, Great Gatsby and The Mummy to name a few and i used these for inspiration.

I had already started drafting my patterns and had already started my first toile. I forgot it this week so I started on other patterns. In one lesson I finished a legging pattern and am halfway through mt vest shirt.
Pencil not very visible sorry

I also finished a large percentage of my era research! Very productive week! As I had work today I don't plan on getting anything finished but my aim for this next week - Finish my observational drawings.
